Getting around in our region
Public transport is well organised and comfortable. A bus, train or taxi will quickly get you to any location in the region and the rest of the Netherlands.

A car provides you with the opportunity to move around completely independently. Another great option is to simply rent a bicycle: it's healthy, environmentally friendly and you will really get to enjoy your surroundings.

Payment system for bus and train
If you take the train, bus or any other form of public transport, you will have to get an OV-chipkaart, which is an electronic, reusable ticket that uses NFC technology. You can buy an anonymous OV-chipkaart or a personal one (that is registered under your name). To buy a personal one, you will need a passport photo, a Dutch bank account and a Dutch address. You can buy an anonymous OV-chipkaart at the railway station, the local transport company or at a newsagent's.
When travelling with your OV-chipkaart, you will need to swipe the card at the entry to the train or metro station or whenever you get on or off a bus or tram. You can top up your OV-chipkaart at almost every railway station. For more information about the OV-chipkaart and how to top up your card, please visit ov-chipkaart.nl.
